Panola County Humane Society, a no-kill shelter, is being evicted from their home of two years and they have only ten days to place all the animals currently residing there. Their lives are in danger…. over a vendetta.
Frank Redford, the building owner gave them just 10 days to pack up and get out!
Davis said Redford has an axe to grind with her, and Thursday Davis says Redford gave the Humane Society 10 days to pack up and leave.
It’s about 100 degrees inside of the kennel, and that’s with fans and a cooling unit at full blast. Workers here fear that it could get even worse if the owner decides to take the cooling units, which could possibly kill the animals.
“He also said that when he takes some of these cages down, he’s going to turn some of the animals loose, and hopes they eat each other or kill each other,” Davis said.

He is in a foster home in NC and will be going to the Veterinary Hospital there. He will need a CT Scan, an MRI and Surgery and it will cost about $6,000. They are committed to helping him because he is only about 6 mos. old and the outcome could be that he will be able to live a full and wonderful life.
Look at that sweet puppy face!! Doesn’t he deserve a chance at a full and wonderful life??
Souther Cross named him Atticus after Atticus Finch, a character from the novel “To Kill a Mockingbird” because of his internal strength, personal courage and noble ideals.
Check out the videos of the sweet puppy below. He has such a zest for life. He just wants to play like other puppies and love and be loved.

Before you get indignant and immediately say no, listen to this story.
Recently Hobbs, a 4 year old lab mix was the center of an abuse story. Last week Anthony Ansill, 25, of Arlington was arrested for slicing open Hobbs chest after beating him with a nail studded board. Hobbs’ rib cage and abdomen were exposed by the foot long cut.
At the time, Hobbs was ‘owned’ by Shawn Lea and he had left the dog in Ansill’s care for a couple of days while he was away. He returned to find to a pungent odor and saw Ansill petting Hobbs, the dog’s abdomen and rib cage were exposed by the horrendous wound. Hobbs could not lay down and was having trouble holding himself up.
Ansil forgot to let Hobbs out and the dog had an accident in the house, the beating was Ansil’s retaliation.
Hobbs was treated and is doing much better now. He’s at Animal Friends shelter recovering.
Now we find out more about Hobbs’ story. You see, Shawn Lea was not Hobbs’ original owner. It seems that Lisa Sobeck and her family had Hobbs up until about three months ago.
Lisa and her husband, Joe, didn’t want to give Hobbs up, he’d been a part of their family for a long time and was very loved. Admittedly I’ll be one of the first people to say that people should find a way to keep a pet, that they’re not disposable, they’re for life and I do feel this way. In this case though, I can see the situation.
See, one of the Sobeck’s five children, Noah, only two years old, was suffering from deteriorating, congenital kidney and bladder condition that required surgery. Lisa herself was being tested for lymphoma and in serious pain. She just couldn’t care for home, five children, one who was seriously ill, and Hobbs.
They didn’t dump Hobbs or surrender him to an animal shelter, they found a new home for him with a cousin, a family member where they felt he would be loved and cared for as he was with them. They also told the cousin that if there was a problem, to bring Hobbs back.

First, Know the Signs of Heat Stroke
The signs depend upon the extent of heat stroke. In the early stages, your pet will pant rapidly, have thick, ropey saliva, and have bright red gums. His body temperature will be between 104-106°F.
As the body temperature climbs above 106°F, your pet will go into shock with subsequent organ shutdown.
He will have pale gums, be weak and dizzy, with vomiting and diarrhea. The brain becomes affected and he may seizure or fall into a coma. In this case, he requires immediate, life-saving veterinary intervention.
The normal body temperature of a dog or cat ranges between 38 - 39°C or 103°F. Our pets maintain this temperature through panting, however sometimes they are unable to lose enough heat. Dogs and cats probably do suffer from heat cramps and heat exhaustion like us humans but the symptoms are mild and we don’t recognize them. The condition that we see is heatstroke, and it may cause the death of a pet.
Most Common Causes of Heat Stroke
Being in a Hot Car - Never leave your pet in a parked car in sunlight. The car heats up to be like a sauna even on mild days.
Excessive Exercise on a Hot Day - Minimize exercise in the heat of the day. Avoid exercising your dog in unusually hot or humid conditions especially at the start of summer. Most heatstroke cases are seen at the start of summer.
Not Enough Shade or Cool Water - Make sure your pet has plenty of shade to escape to during the day. Make sure your pet has plenty of fresh cool water (the water should be placed in the shade) available at all times.

Yet another city jumping on the BSL bandwagon; Sioux City, Iowa is discussing plans to enact a ban on pitbulls within its city limits.
The city council is set to review a proposed ordinance on Monday that would outlaw the breed in Sioux City. Pit bulls currently make up about 3 percent of Sioux City’s canine population, but are responsible for about 50 percent of violent animal incidents.
City Council member Aaron Rochester says pit bulls are a specific problem because they have dangerous instincts.
The proposed ordinance would not require current pit bull owners to give up their dogs, but would require them to register their pit bulls to keep them. Once the dogs died, they could not be replaced.
If passed, ban would go into effect in six months.
It seems that rather than getting better, when it comes to pitbulls, it’s only getting worse! It’s not pitbulls that need to be banned, it’s idiots owning pitbulls that need to be banned but rather than placing the blame where it belongs, the dogs will pay the price and the price is going to be a death sentence.
