Ok, this is going to be a bit of a rant and maybe not a nice one. Generally I try very hard to write somewhat conservatively. There’s no question I am biased, after all, this is a dog blog, so yeah, I am on the side of the dogs and those who work for their welfare and advocacy. Never tried to hide that, not that I could.

Now quite often I’ll get an email or come across a story that gets me so angry, just plain pissed off, and I’ll actually have to wait a day before I can even write about it so that my temper doesn’t boil over and I can write a decent piece, but let me tell you, it chafes!! I thank God every day for some of the people who comment on my stories because I know that I can count on them to say what I really want to but don’t.

My aim in to raise awareness and educate people about the cruelties and abuses that people visit on the innocent and defenseless victims who have no voice of their own. I want to show the world these pieces of trash that are so low that they take out their rage and frustrations and insecurities on those who cannot fight back. If I had my way I’d personally brand each and every one of them so the whole world could see what scum they are!

Today I did a piece about a wonderful woman, Carol Crocker, in Rainsville, AL. Now the county has no shelter or animal control so they just drop off the unwanted and strays to her. She takes them in, vets them and cares for them herself with no help from anyone, financially or otherwise. Now all of the sudden it seems some neighbors are complaining so the good ole mayor and everyone else is going along with a court mandate that she needs to get rid of about 100 dogs, not that the county has ever had any laws about how many pets or animals you could have. All these people who have used for for 10 years and no one is standing up for her! Oh, did I mention she lost her home to arson and is now living out of an old barn since every penny goes to caring for her charges, the dogs she so loves that everyone dumped in her??

What the hell kind of low-life bastard politicos would do something like this?? Well, let’s see… his name is Donnie Chandler, Mayor,
City of Rainsville,
P.O. Box 309,
Rainsville, AL 35986.

Thanks for the info Andrea!

By the way, it’s an election year for good ole Donny, let’s let him know what we think of him and what he’s allowing to happen!!

And now I have a couple of stories in the works for tomorrow, one about another rescue poser who is a breeder and broker and to top is off, this piece of trash is operating practically in my back yard!! Hopefully tomorrow I’ll be calmed down enough to write a ‘polite’ piece but right about now I’m not feeling too polite. I hold those in rescue in the highest regard and do know some personally. They give their everything. They are not in it for the money or the glory but to save live savaged by neglect or abuse. People who call themselves ‘rescuers’ but are nothing of the sort are some of the lowest forms of life there are, preying on the innocent and the soft-hearted. They’d take you last nickel and smirk behind your back! These kind of people need to be exposed to for world to see what they really are!

And then there’s the ‘personalities’ who think they can say whatever they want to say regardless of who they hurt like some stupid radio personalities out of Florida who are pitbull bashers. Don’t pitbulls have it hard enough with the media and stupid ignorant cretins bashing them up one side and down the other already? Pitbulls, one of the most abused and maligned ‘breeds’ of dogs that exist today! What a bunch of bullshit! I’d like to take a horsewhip to all of them and let them live just one day in the paws of some of these dogs.

I recently got new neighbors and they have two dogs, one of them a sweet and beautiful brindle pitbull. One of the first things another neighbor said was, “Oh my God, is that a pitbull?” in an accusatory and fearful tone of voice. This is what the media and so many others do to perpetrate the bullshit hype. Like so many, this is one of the sweetest, friendliest dogs you can ever imagine… and luckily rescued from a druggie before it was too late!

How do you educate idiots who don’t listen or even have the brain matter to understand anything?? And people wonder why animal advocates sometimes go to extremes to get their message across? No, I don’t advocate violence and am not a violent person but sometimes….

Anyway, thanks for ‘listening’ and letting me get this off my chest, I could go on and on but for now I am going to call it a night. I really do get tired of trying to be ‘nice’ and compared to many, yes, I am nice and polite. I don’t want to scare people off, I want them to see and hear and understand. Dogs and animals live and feel and think and hurt. People who visit pain and abuse and neglect upon them are wastes of human life and just one tiny step from inflicting the same against another person. So next time someone starts whining about people caring more for dogs or animals than for their fellow human beings, think of these abusers and think who may be next??

And by the way, yeah, I actually do care more for my dogs and pets than for most human beings… especially with the examples that I write about every day, who can blame me??

I called Humane Society about Carole and her dogs. There are 2 rescue workers on her property now. If you call the Humane Society in Alabama (don’t know what I did with the number, you can get it calling the Humane Society), I was told that she had a court order almost a year ago to adopt the dogs out!

Among other issues with Carole…call the Humane Society and they will give you the number to call in Alabama.

    It’s gonna be ok….

Well- you’re much nicer and way more polite than I am- but then most of us know that already! My solutions to many of the “problems” with members of the media or owners that shouldn’t be or uninformed loud mouths with solutions to everything are a bit drastic but I’m pretty sure they’d work.
Abusers should be branded so the world and fellow inmates know what they do- media people that are animal shock jocks should be tattooed on the forehead with a simple: “warning-idiot inside” and.-the “blessed” ones who have solutions to everything that are shared in a loud voice with everyone need to be placed in a small room with recordings of themselves offering advice and solutions about everything for a minimum of 5 days!

lol…loved that tattoo thing, Margaret. my thought is they need 2 find out those ppl with the “cruelty gene”…check ‘em when they’re born….those that have that gene should just b drowned. this way, maybe we could “breed out” these ppl.
“WE” need 2 stop just giving out wrist slaps etc. 2 these “assholes” n really punish them…o dear, i’d better stop now. rant, rant, rant……..

@Margaret - Margaret, you’re a sweetie and all those who know you know it… just as long as it has nothing to do with these kinds of trash then God help them! And that’s just the way it should be too!
You know I’m with you on the branding… LOL People should be able to see just who they have to deal with. I like the idea of locking loud mouths in somewhere to listen to their own BS, so very appropriate!
@dru - Hmmm…. isn’t that what so many puppy mills do with unwanted puppies… just drown them?? If only…. if only…. ok, going to stop now myself.

On my blog, you can rant, insult, scream, and swear. Shamless promotion, I know.

  6. by Admin, on September 12 2008 @ 3:46 pm

@AIR - Andrea, shame on you! LOL

I agree with dru - we need to “breed out” aggression in humans. We can even be humane about it & instead of killing them just snip snip at the first sign of aggression/cruelty. Although there are some that I would like to see drowned or starved, or beat to death, depending on their crime.

Spot on as always Deanna and everyone here. I hope you don’t mind that I copied your comments on the media morons to a page on our website. It gave me an opportunity to stick it up New Zealand’s examples of the Pit Bull bashing breeds of humans here. Not just the media, but also the face of the SPCA in NZ (believe it or not!!), a pompous fool of a man called Bob (All Pit Bulls are born BAD) Kerridge, along with his mates in parliament and even a so-called behaviourist.
Thank you for that Deanna. And thank you again for the precious work you do in defense of the defenseless.
Btw, our general election has been called for 8 November in NZ and the proposed mandatory spay/neuter bill is now at No. 20 on the list of bills to be heard before.
There will be an update on that situation from our side of the world on our website: http://www.purebrednz.com but Deanna will be one of the first to hear about the decision on this appallingly cruel proposition for the bull terrier ‘type’ and I’m sure will update everyone here.

@Karen - Of course you’re free to share the info Karen.
You know that I am crossing my fingers and saying my prayers for you and all the innocent lives that will be lost if the idiots get their way there! Wish there was something someone could do, that someone could pick up the gauntlet and make a difference. It still amazes me that all the organization that you would expect to stand up and just standing by.

PLEASE LET THIS WOMEN ALONE AS I THINK SHE IS DOING THE VERY BEST SHE CAN. WHY NOT GO AFTER THE ONES WHO ARE JUST DROPPING THEIR DOGS OFF INSTEAD OF GOING AFTER HER.

  11. by Vicki T, on September 13 2008 @ 1:03 pm

Deanna, as far I as I am concerned you can rant all you want. Your points are always valid and I don’t think you’ll scare people off. We’re on your side because we all love animals as much as you do. I get so upset when I get on pet-abuse.com, it’s a good thing they don’t have a comment section, but they do now allow you to vote on the cases where there is a conviction. That helps a little.

I love being informed about everything on dogs cuz i own 2 and plan on getting 2 more. the more informed i am on cruel people and what they do to dogs or animals i can do more for my dogs. and you are one of the nicest bloggers that i have read and you do have a right to be mad (i m gonna be nice and use nicer terms)on what people do to dogs. KEEP UP THE GREAT BLOGS OF INFORMATION.

  13. by Admin, on September 15 2008 @ 10:31 am

@Vicki T, @courtney - I want to thank you and everyone for all your support and sticking along with me here. It’s not easy to do this every day and it’s not easy to read it and keep coming back. I like to think that together we really can make a difference.
I guess doing the really important work is never really easy or pretty but it’s people like us who do it anyway and so many others who have websites and work every day getting the word out and letting people know.
I really do appreciate all of you, those who comment and those who read and spread the word, those on the front lines; everyone with their heart and head in the right place. We are a minority but we’ve got more heart than anyone can possibly imagine. :)

    @Admin -

Wow, thank you so much for the compliments. We ARE a team and I just discovered this site a very short time ago. I plan on being around to offer support for as long as you are willing to post. That’s a promise. Your friend and mutual animal lover, Vicki Tankersley
