For the Love of the Dog Presents ‘For the Love of the Pit Bull’
Posted on 2008 under Animal Advocacy, BSL - Breed Specific Legislation, Dog Breeds, Video |13 Jun
Yup, I admit it, I’m one of those horrible people who love the breed! I acknowledge that they can be scary, horrible and vicious dogs… but then so can any breed that is mis-trained, poorly bred and not socialized.
Pit bulls have gotten a bad rap and horrible reputation because of people who think having ‘mean’ dogs is ‘cool’ and ‘macho’ so they train these dogs, who can be the sweetest and most loving of any, to be mean and vicious. They take out their aggression on people and other animals.
I’m not going to go into all the statistics, I just wanted to take the time to show you what too many people never see regarding the pit bull breed. The media plays up the ‘bad’ because it make for great ratings and circulation. I’d love to see them play up images like this!
In case you still don’t see it and get it….
(make sure you have your sound turned on and you can hear this)
If this didn’t touch you, I’m not sure you have a heart!
If you appreciate my
work, why don't you buy my dog a bone? :)
It is only through the kind and generous donations of those who care that I can continue my work, raise awareness and be a voice for those who have no voice of their own. You'll also receive a lovely gift as a token of my appreciation

I
am passionate when it comes to my canine companions as well as dogs
everywhere. It is my mission to raise awareness of any issues that affect
them, from their health, food and nutrition and training to their
welfare. Canine advocacy is something that everyone who cares about dogs
needs to be aware of and we all need to share that and raise our voice for
those who cannot speak for themselves.

Deanna, you know this brightened my day. If the “haters” would spend just 5 minutes with a pittie or a little time researching the bread (NOT by reporters looking for ratings, there would be soooo many converts!!
When I get time to go to dogster, you know what will be on my babies’ pages!

@Betty Howard (Gig) - Gig, I knew you would love these!! And that’s so true and I say the same thing too. Most of the time the BS about pitties comes from people who have never even met one. They buy into all the media hype.
I’m not saying there aren’t bad pitties out there, but that goes the same for any breed. Pitbulls just happen to be the breed or choice right now for all the ‘tough guys’ and other miscreants who turn what could be a wonderful, loving and devoted companion into a vicious killing machine. These people should be banned… locked up…. euthanized!

Add me to the list of “horrible people” who love this breed. I despise the stigmas and stagnant attitudes of people whether it’s a dog breed or certain wildlife (wolves). Change and progress is too slow for my liking but to know people who take the time to try to educate others and stand up for unfair judgments make me feel a little more hopeful!

@Sasha - Sasha, you know I’m proud to share the list with you and with many others who feel the same way.
Nice to know so many other thinking people with hearts too!
@jeffrey griffith - Jeffrey, so true! It’s no wonder that pitbulls used to be known as ‘nanny dogs’, they can be amazingly wonderful with children as long as they are properly trained and supervised, just as any other breed.

Pitbulls are people too! Such a wonderful breed of dog, it is a shame they even sell t-shirts showing this dog as an attack dog. Even more, a shame that people actually buy them. What a misunderstood animal, what a shame that their are people out there who never give them a chance, not ONE chance! I have had English Bulldogs, German Shepards, Dobermans, GreatDanes, Chihuahuas, and Pitbulls. I love them ALL! They all have their very own love to give and show. I have seen though, that Pitbulls are actually NOT the ones to be the first to bite. In fact, they are the LAST. But you won’t see THAT in the paper!
