Dog Beaten, Shot and tossed in Dumpster Like Trash

This is just so heartbreaking! Why do people do this to dogs? I see such horror stories every day but some of them just really get to me. This poor little dog, as damaged as she was still licked the hands of those who tired to help her!!
The Humane Society of Escambia County, Alabama tried to save a dog that was beaten, shot multiple times and then thrown away.
When employees of the Dollar General in Brewton took out the trash Sunday, they found a mixed breed, female dog in the dumpster. The Humane Society says DeeDee was initially very alert and friendly. She wagged her tail and licked the hands of her rescuers. But x-rays revealed three bullets that were lodged in DeDee’s front leg and neck and extensive blunt force trauma to her hips and spine. Her internal organs were also damaged.
“We had hoped and prayed that we could save her,” said Humane Society Director Renee Jones. “The damage was just too great.”
DeeDee was euthanized Monday afternoon at the Brewton Animal Clinic.
Animal cruelty is a felony in Alabama. The Humane Society is asking for your help to catch the person(s) who tortured DeeDee. If you know anything about the case, please call the Humane Society of Escambia County at 251.867.6860. (WKRG)

needs to be aware of and we all need to share that and raise our voice for
those who cannot speak for themselves.

This is very sad. I’m glad Alabama address animal cruelty as a felony and takes this very seriously. Again, what is the difference between physically abusing an animal or a human? Answer: NONE! They are equally heinous. Hopefully this dog’s killer is found…sadly that may not happen. The problem is that some of these ’subhumans’ take out their frustrations on innocent animals. Every time someone is prosecuted it is a huge victory for our four-legged friends. I’ve noticed a lot more attention paid to “animal protection” over the past few years and it seems to be ‘on the rise’. Frankly, with continued ‘awareness’ and publication of cruelty, even more people will “take notice’ and be outraged. I don’t think most people have a ‘clue’ as to the rampant animal cruelty. This has got to stop.

Michelle, that is certainly one of the problems that most people really don’t have a clue. All that we can do is raise our voice and get the word out. Pass these stories around and tell everyone.
I do think things are improving… very slowly though. There is still a very long way to go!
