Dog Fatally Stabbed with Screwdriver - SPCA Asking for Help

On Christmas Day a two year old female pit bull, brown with a white spot on her chest, was found dumped in Upper Township, NJ in a wooded area at the end of New Jersey Avenue. The poor dog had been brutally killed, stabbed with a screwdriver. She had three holes in her head and had been bludgeoned to death.
One of the oddest pieces of this story is that the dog was found surrounded by medical equipment. Not only that, it appeared that someone had been administering care to the dog.
“We found the dog covered in medical tape, had an IV catheter in it and shaved paw, so it looked like somebody was trying to give it medical care,” Liam Hughes, an animal control officer said. “She had food in her stomach, her nails were trimmed, her ears were clean. This was somebody’s pet. The dog had no scars on it. This was not related to fighting dogs.”
The dog appeared to have been in good health prior to the brutal killing which investigators estimate took place a day or two prior to the body being found. They did discover tire tracks, possibly from a truck or van, leading away from the dog’s bod.
“It’s one of those things that takes your breath away. You can’t believe that someone would do something like this,” Hughes said.”This is going to be on my plate until we can find out who did this. Nobody’s pet, nobody’s animal, no living creature should suffer like this.”
The dog did not have any tags or other identifying information and the SPCA is looking for the public’s help in finding out whose dog this was and who killed her.
If you know who owned the dog or have any information that can help investigators, call the New Jersey SPCA at 888-582-5979.
