JusticeJustice, as the German Shepherd who was found slain and dumped along a rural Fairfield Township road, was dubbed, was found to have been gutted while still alive autopsy results revealed.

Whoever is responsible for killing Justice the German shepherd gutted the dog while the animal was still alive, according to the autopsy report delivered to the Cumberland County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The report, delivered Monday, determined the dog apparently bit off its own tongue as a result of the torture.

“It just makes me sick,” said Bev Greco, SPCA executive director. “It upset me so bad, I’m flabbergasted.”

The cause of death is officially listed as “hemorrhagic shock and death.”

Local veterinarian Amy Granato compiled the analysis with assistance from the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and an expert in veterinary forensics.

The SPCA believes the injuries were drug-related, but forensic experts were not able to conclusively determine whether there were drugs in the dog’s body, Greco said.

Greco said that would not hamper their investigation.

“That dog was tortured,” she said. “That’s all I need to know.”

The findings were forwarded to the Bridgeton barracks of the New Jersey State Police, where police are heading the investigation to track the dog’s killers.

Justice was found duct-taped and dumped along a rural road in Fairfield Township in May.

• A memorial service for Justice will be held at 10 a.m. July 21 at the SPCA headquarters on Delsea Drive, near Oak Road. The public is welcome. Assemblyman Jeff Van Drew will be the guest speaker.

• Anyone with information about the dog’s death is asked to anonymously contact the SPCA at (856) 691-1500. (Deleware Online)

This goes way beyond the horrible death of a dog. This speaks to the dangerous individual that can do such a thing, as this may be exactly what this twisted person is capable of doing to a child, or even an adult. This person must be found and dealt with by the criminal justice system. I cannot believe that something this horrible is a first bad act for this evil doer. If you see someone doing a bad thing to an animal, even something that may be just within the law, report it. Uncorrected bad behavior just gets worse.

This is by far one of the sickest things I have read about in months. It goes beyond torture. I will never be convinced that anything this brutal and violent is if a first time offense for the perpetrator. Do you realize has sick a mind has to be to be this torturous? If these politicians would get off their backsides and start making and enforcing laws to make the offenders get the same type of punishment for this as torturing a human maybe it wouldn’t be so “popular” anymore. I am literally sick to my stomach.

There is bad and then there is worse. This is horrific. And what happens to the scum bag when they do catch him? Not much of anything…just another day in paradise.

How is it possible that someone could inflict so much pain and suffering on such a beautiful animal? I will never in my lifetime understand how people can willfully torture such exscuisite animals. There isn’t punishment severe enough for this depravity. I don’t know whether to be sick or to cry. What Justice endured in his last minutes or hours on earth absolutely breaks my heart. Unbelievably heartbreaking.

The torture and murder of Justice, the German shepherd, is an appalling act. It is imperative that the individual(s) responsible be identified, convicted, and absolutely sent to either jail or detention. Such deliberate cruelty, such aggression, threaten not only other animals, but people. A person capable of this destruction will not hesitate to harm again.
The criminals involved are a danger to other animals and to humans. They must be punished and the punishment needs to be severe.

This is absolutely one of the the most horrific stories that I have ever heard. These people must be
stopped and laws MUST be changed to protect animals more. If this was a child or person
they would given the death sentence, rightfully so but killing an animal like this should be treated in an equal
manner, if they’re doing this to an animal now I’m sure a person will be next.

There was a memorial held yesterday for Justice with a gathering of more than 200 people. It’s is beyond sad that any creature can be treated so cruelly, tortured, abused and slain, but in this sad case, some good may com from this poor dog’s death. It has opened people’s eyes to these atrocities for the need for stronger animal cruelty laws and penalties. Justice can’t be brought back but if his horrible death does bring about some good then at least it can be said that he didn’t die completely in vain! A small consolation but something none the less.
